Candela C-8 Wins Gold Medal in Prestigious German Design Awards

We’re happy to announce that Candela C-8’s design has been recognised with a gold medal from the German Design Awards in the Product Design category – the most prestigious design prize. “This award is a testament to the C-8’s functional design. Its minimalist aesthetics stem from the need for lightness and aerodynamics,” says Niklas Nordin, Head of Products at Candela.

Shaped by Air and Water

The sleek lines of Candela C-8, often interpreted as ‘minimalistic Nordic design,’ primarily aims for efficiency. The hull’s sleek, rounded front and tapered aft minimise air resistance. Advanced computer modelling and Computational Fluid Dynamics have been used to simulate drag, with details such as flush fold-down cleats and an angled windscreen enhancing both aesthetics and aerodynamic efficiency.

This, together with the hydrofoil system, a lightweight composite build, and an energy-dense Polestar battery, makes Candela C-8 the most energy-efficient powerboat on earth – with the longest electric range.

“We believe this functional design will stand the test of time and make the C-8 a timeless design piece. There are no gimmicks in this boat; every detail serves a purpose,” says Nordin.
